It can be worth doing this however as he can setup Evasion on himself to protect himself from further Self HP drains, plus if it wasn't obvious he should try to direct his HP drains towards himself because of this aspect. One major part of his skill kit that has to be addressed is said setup, as in order to boost his own dmg output, he needs to also remove his own or an Ally's Life which can be very risky to do, as it obviously will drain your own team's monster's HP, but it can also proc held Relics or Talents which could potentially completely screw up his setup completely.
